 | Paris Nightlife | Tips 1 - 10 of 863 | | As part of my BIG birthday celebaration Geisha_Girl put together a birthday bash here at Barrio Latino. This is restaurant with four floors a bar and nightclub. The wait staff pushed around a glass covered trolley where they dispense snacks from. The first and third floors are dance floors with its own blend of funky Latin sounds. The second floor is a restaurant catering to Latin dishes and the top floor is a combination nightclub where you can find the VIP section. Christian managed to get us the VIP Key. We had a lovely section up on the fourth floor with our own dance floor and the dj spinning a mix of dance traxs. We ordered a large tray of tapas and of course I had my Mojito!! Yum. At the entrance, the greeting is made by Michou : always dressed with a clear blue blazer, glasses large as a wind screen. You cannot miss him : he repeats "merci" (thanks to make me so rich because his club is full every night since 1956). To be there you must reserve at least 2 WEEKS before and for the week end 2 months. But it is a real show of the Parisian life (I mean not as the Moulin Rouge which is a real tourist trap). The price : 95 euros for the dinner and the show. If you are too late to reserve, take a ticket through an agency for only 152 euros (!!!!) I have been surprised by the size of the room : 70 square meters with enough place to put 100 people. Smaller, it is a phone booth. Take care : there is a table in front of the entrance from which you cannot see the stage and you attend the show at the TV (in this case, the best way is to buy the DVD). TO BE CONTINUED ON THE FOLLOWING PAGE
I was invited by my former admin who had just come into an inheritance (I told that to my current one to motivate her). The dress code is casual but some people have the tie (me for example) but take into consideration : - you will be packed together the other people - you will not dance (no place enough). The French people who are there have generally something to celebrate (often a birthday) and want to have real good time. Chez Michou is the Mecca of transformism. The singers are all men but imitate feman singers or artists (Brigitte Bardot, Chere, Dalida certainly the best copycat, Milene Farmer, etc...). The show begins around 10 PM by a young singer a bit agitated who seems blocked by the tiny stage. The the real performance begins just after with the Michette, such as the gay singers who are all overwhelming. The music is recorded : no place to put a musician. The show is over at 1AM. No sex, no vulgarity.
Do not miss : - a camera : it is allowed and if you forget it Michou can sell you one (what a businessman) - a fan : it can be bought chez Michou and signed by the singers. This place was our fourth and last stop of the evening, after visiting Le Duplex, Badridine decided we needed to visit one more place. Firas, Mel, Vincent, Badridine and myself packed ourselves in Badridine's car and made our way to this club. I am not sure what the entrance fee is (we didn't pay), as Badridine, like all the other places he takes us to, knows the bouncers, front guys and everyone there is to know in the club scene . We were greated with nice smiles, and of course VIP treatment. Drinks (Champagne for me please) were also complimentary. The place is quite large, with a nice dance floor, disco ball on the ceiling, great bar and lounge like seating throughout the club. The place was packed with partygoers enjoying the funky mix of 70's 80's and 90's disco music.

After partying in "Le Cab" we decided to have a last few drinks at a casual place, so we headed to the Marais and found the Lizard Lounge. The Lizard Lounge doesn't look like much and as a matter of fact looks quite small for the exterior. As soon as you walk in the door you'll be so pleasantly surprised to find out just how large this place really is. There is an average size balcony with seating located upstairs. On the main floor is a small bar as you enter and if you continue to walk towards the back of the bar you will come to a stairway that takes you downstairs. As you emerge in the lower leverl you are in another bar with a large area, DJ and a bar, tables and some couches and a small dance floor.
Very casual, jeans, t-shirt, as you wish.. Leave a Comment Theme: NightclubAddress: 18 rue du Bourg-Tibourg, 4th Mº Hôtel-de-Ville, PaPhone: 4272 8134

This club is FANTASTIC!! Okay, I must admit I am a bit biased and that is because my close friend's best friend works as a bouncer here and every time I'm in Paris I'm invited as a VIP Guest with free entrance, chamapagne or anything I'd like to drink. As you approach the street level entrance you feel like you're walking down a Metro station. The place is HUGE and has three levels of dancing. Each level plays its own music with one level playing hip hop, the other plays techno and one (I think) plays new wave. Whatever the mood you're in, you'll definitely have a great time. Come early, I've noticed the lines get really long!!
What I've noticed is that the dress is club wear, whatever you'd wear at any club goes here...No sneakers though (didn't see anyone wearing them)!! Leave a Comment Theme: NightclubAddress: 2 bis avenue Foch 75116 ParisPhone: 0145004500Website: www.leduplex.com

Inside this spacious haven of calm, elegance, and courtesy, there’s no need for music. Every detail contributes to the very unique ambience: low words almost whispered, British accents, the regular sounding of the Westminster clock, the rattle of ice cubes in the cocktail shaker, the odor of cigars. And, last but not least, the "Franglais" chatter of the hilarious Colin, the most fascinating bartender in all of Paris. He was also voted "The World's Greatest Bartender" in Forbes in 2001. I have his book, "The Cocktails of the Ritz Paris" and I recommend it highly. It's a good read which tells the history of the Bar Hemingway and of the origins of some of the world's most famous cocktails. He also includes the original recipes of these drinks but also many are of cocktails which he has invented himself. The Bar Hemingway also carries a lot of Colin's personal touch in the setting, namely the bookshelves and leather armchairs. His specialties are named after both famous writers and loyal clients. Suffice to say that Colin makes the ambience, whipping up cocktails on order and pleasantly conversing with the ladies. He is, with his colleague Johan, the ringleader of this special place, where literary and media types, lawyers, and business people meet up under the portraits and caricatures of writers hanging on the walls: Proust, Malraux, and, of course, the bar’s eponymous star, who floats around like an indiscreet phantom. For cocktails, count on spending around 15€.
Dress well. Casual but 'chic' is okay. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherPhone: 33 1 43 16 30 30Directions: At the Hotel Ritz, Paris.

Le Cab (as the locals call it) was a fantastic place. I absolutely loved this place!! We were here to enjoy a fantastic dinner and stayed for the partying. Some time around midnight as everyone is done with their dinners the tables are removed and the dining area is transfored into a huge dance floor. The restaurant is great and the food was delicious not to mention the extensive wine list. I loved the soft cushioned beds set in low-ceiling alcoves and the lace curtains and walls of deep-purple adding to the exotic and sensual mix. The music was fantastic as well and cigars can be purchased behind the bar. Some of the house drinks include *wicked Cosmopolitans and wild Caipirinhas*. The crowds are beautiful, hip and stylish, be warned that there is a strict dress code!!!
There is a cover charge of $20.00 per person unless you enjoyed a dinner. Leave a Comment Theme: NightclubAddress: 2, place du Palais Royal 75001 ParisPhone: 0158625625Website: www.cabaret.fr

Located in Philippe Starck's Hotel Costes here along the ritzy Rue St. Honroe is their cafe of the same name. A great place to start your evening, meet some of your friends and enjoy some cocktails before dinner. Their Caiparinha's are to die for. The people are pretty and stylish and the music as fantastic as their CD's. If you're like me and enjoy their music mixes, stop at their shop and browse the CD's for sale. "Le Caveau des oubliettes" is the oldest Jazz Club in Paris. It was built on the site of an ancient Latin Quarter Dungeon, so you have to go down winding stairs into a Grotto-like cavern, decorated with old chains and even inscriptions on the walls of people that died there! The music is always excelent, some days is stand-up off the street improv which is amazing too. No cover charge, no dress code. Be sure to go DOWNSTAIRS and not to stay at the upper bar! Most tourists don't know this, that's why it is a typicall local's point. Jazz is contemporary, none of the Gershwin old boring stuff you get at Caveau de l'Huchette nearby.
No dress code at all, no cover charge. You are required to drink, though. Beer=5 Euros. Bottles of wine at 12E. Leave a Comment Theme: Live MusicAddress: Rue Galande, Paris 5th.Directions: Latin Quarter. Find Rue Saint Jacques, parallel to Bd. Saint Michel and you'll see Rue Galande cutting off St. Jacques second one to the left if you start walking at the Seine. Métro Saint Michel is right nearby.
