From the Airports to Paris: How to reach the french capital
  • Tip Rating:
  • By plane you'll arrive at one of the two airports of Paris: Orly-airport and airport Charles de Gaulle.
Both are a bit outside, but you can easily reach the city by RER (train), bus or taxi.

Flying: I'm trying to rack up mileage...
  • Tip Rating:
  • I'm trying to rack up mileage for a free trip so I'm flying NW/KLM all the time. I have no complaints. KLM is safe and it usually gets you there on time. From Manila to Paris, though, you have to connect in Schiphol Amsterdam where KLM has their hub.
I know I could have followed instructions for a cheaper way to get to the hotel...take the bus, take the train, drag your luggage but, I didn't. I took the easy way out. I took a cab:-) $32 bucks was the total on the meter when he dropped me off in front of the hotel but you gotta give the guy a tip, right? So $35 was fair for getting me there safely and comfortably.

The Metro. It's not very clean or safe. Stay with someone. Taxi, car or walk. Take care crossing roads. I found cars do not bother to stop at zebra crossing

  • It's the plane! It's the plane!! And then rent a car... it's more thrills than you can imagine! Every stoplight is the start of a race! And make sure you drive around the Arc de Triomphe at rush hour! Eight lanes going in a circle!!! Just don't hit the brakes!!! No one else does, and that is the sure way to cause an accident...
Take the L'Openbus tours... 40 stopping points in three loops around Paris, hitting every area and sight, with unlimited on-off opportunities, coming to the stops every 15-20 minutes; hours are from 9.30am until 7.00pm, all year long; can buy the ticket from the operator... buy the 2-day pass, around $25US, for best deal... excellent!!!

Walking is the best idea as you get to take in the scenery and atmosphere better.

    Getting there by plane
  • Tip Rating:
  • I think the best is to get there by plane. We flew from Nuremberg to Charles de Gaulle Airport and back for € 140 only with Air France.

Orly airport is located south of Paris. There are two terminals, Orly ouest and Orly sud where Air France flights leave from terminal ouest. There are many domestic flights leaving from Orly as most of the international airlines leave from CDG. The best way to get to Paris is to take the bus, there's a bus leaving to Denfert-Rocherau which is in the southern part of central Paris, and buses to the main railway stations and Etoile. You can also go by train, a train called Orlyval but it is EXPENSIVE, and you have to change at least once (twice if you also have to take the underground in Paris).

  • Tip Rating:
  • Air France is most likely to have a nonstop flight from wherever you are. Their people are friendly and relaxed. Most international nonstops, however, fly into Aeroport Charles de Gaulle (CDG; also known as 'Roissy'). From CDG it is an hour-long $40 taxi ride to the center of Paris or a few dollars on the RER.
