 | Paris Champs Elysées Reviews | 11 - 20 of 212 | | Surely, one of the most famous streets in the world, this avenue provides a vista from the Arc du Carousel at the Louvre past the Place de la Concorde to the Arc de Triomphe, one of Paris' most famous landmarks. The vista continues to the west along the Avenue de la Grande Armee and Avenue Charles de Gaulle to the Grande Arche de la Defense to complete one of the best stretches through Paris. This is also one of the most expensive streets in Paris with many expensive shops, restaurants & automobile stores along the avenue. When people tell me they've visited Paris and that it was so expensive, I ask them where did you shop & dine. Why, along the Champs Elysees, of course. Of course. That's why your trip was so expensive! Naturally, you have to visit the Champs Elysees as it's emblematic of Paris and the vibe on the avenue is very bustling, a lot of lively energy here. However, it's very touristy and not entirely representative of Paris, which can be an excellent city to visit on a modest budget. Just don't shop on the Champs. Click on the photo to see the full shot including the Arc de Triomphe. Look at some of these photos that I took from an island in the middle of the street. I had more than a few cars honking at me & I'm sure I heard a "crazy Americain" thrown at me. Photos: April 2003 & Feb 2006 Leave a Comment

I wouldn't advise taking a picture like I did. The cars "zoom" down the Champs Elysees and if I would have fallen, I don't think they would have stopped! LOL The Champs-Elysées, also named "La plus belle avenue du monde" in French (the most beautiful avenue in the world). The Champs Elysées (Elysian fields) were originally nothing but fields, until Marie de Medicis decided in 1616 to put up a long tree-lined pathway. In 1667, the Tuileries was extended and the Champs-Elysees became a very fashionable place to walk. In 1724, the avenue was extended up to Chaillot hill, now the site of the Arc de Triomphe and the Etoile In 1828 they added footpaths and the fountains. Today, the Champs Elysées is one of the most famous streets in the world, with its cinemas, cafés, and luxury specialty shops. At the very heart of Paris, it is one of the most symbolic places in the city. The New Year's eve gathering, the 14th of July military parade as well as the arrival of the Tour de France cycling race are some of the regular events along "Les Champs". Leave a Comment

I think that it's the most famous street of Paris. It joins Arch de Triumph and Place de la Concorde. There are a lot of shops on the street and you may got shopping here, although I found good suit for me I decided to come back later (it costs my double salary :-)) ). In Christmas time I recommend you to have a walking here because the street is illuminated and it's really fantastic Leave a Comment

The Champs-Elys?es is a must see of Paris. With its many restaurants, bars and shops, you could easily spend hours walking up and down it.......we did! We stopped off at a small bar for a quiet afternoon drink on the Champs-Elys?es after visiting the Arc de Triumphe. It was a lovely warm day. We then contiued to walk all the way down towards the Louvre, which is at the opposite end of the Champs-Elys?es from the Arc de Triumphe. The view from both ends is breathtaking! Leave a Comment

Champs Elysées is the most exclusive street in Paris and goes from the Triumph Arc to the Place de la Concorde. The shops are open until late at night as the street is always full of life and people. Take a stroll and enjoy the place to see and be seen. If you get bored window shopping there's a movie theater that shows movies in the original language with French subtitles. If hunger attacks there are some restaurants, a French fast food place and the most exclusive McDonald's hehe. Beware that the souvenir shops will charge you twice the price just because they're on this street. Address: Champs ElyséesDirections: There's 5 métro stops you can choose from: Concorde, Champs Elysées Clemenceau, Franklin D. Roosevelt, George V and Charles de Gaulle Etoile.

With it's glitzy shops, hotels, restaurants and clubs, the Champs Elysées has no rivals anywhere in the world. Sure there are longer, wider and more glitzy streets, but no other street has seen and has been a part of history as this famous strech of road has had. Today on it’s wide sidewalks this is a popular tourist and local hangout. The victorious Germans marched these streets when they defeated France in 1940 and in 1944 this is the street the allies marched victoriously on after liberating Paris. In the world of cycling this is the ultimate stadium for the final stage of the Tour de France. The Champs Elysées are worldwide known. It's THE street you've got to go once in Paris. From Place de la Concorde to the Arc de Triomphe, this avenue is Paris's meadow. It's considered the most beautiful avenue in the world, a mecca for business, luxury goods and nightlife. There are plenty of stores, plenty of people walking, plenty of cars, plenty of everything... Below the "rond point", the avenue becomes a huge garden with theatres, museums and fine restaurants. I don't know what you can do there (well, you can do a lot of things, from shopping to taking a coffee), but being there is just a must. I do understand why the french celebrate all their major parades in this street, why Hitler passed his nazi guys when he invaded Paris, why the people like to walk through this street. It's just simply Paris. And Paris is, well, PARIS. So be there and enjoy the view. Leave a Comment Address: I don't think you'll need it...

No trip to Paris would be complete sans a walk up the Avenue des Champs-Elyees. It is one of the 12 symmetrical avenues that radiate from the huge rotary of pl. Charles de Gaulle-Etoille and is a legendary epicenter of chic. Chain restaurants and shopping venues line the avenue which used to be the home of the most affluent in Paris. Needless to say, this symbolic landmark is quite touristy and thus quite pricey. It tends to get more crowded as you draw closer to the Arc where you'll find several fellow visitors taking pictures of the monument as a backdrop. If you're careful and somehow make it to the median without getting hit by car you can take a picture of the Arc de Triomphe behind you. Directions: The Champs runs from the pl. Charles de Gaulle-Etiole southeast to the pl. de la Concorde

This wide tree-lined street is possibly the most famous avenue in all the world. If there is one avenue in the world that I think of when it comes to "strolling down the.." it is the Champs Elysees. Standing near the Arc de Triomphe one can soak up the view as it heads toward the Place de la Concorde. Of course, the view looking toward the Arc de Triomphe is similarily spectacular. If you want a view from high up, go to the top of the Arc de Triomphe. Whether you are just looking to walk down the famous avenue or do some shopping, you will enjoy the experience. Leave a Comment
