Champs Elysées: Trains on the Champs Elysees
  • Tip Rating:
  • Free exibit of trains on the Champs Elysees in Spring - Summer 2003.
It was a great work to bring all these trains on the Champs Elysees and to put them on the rails.
When SNCF is on strike (like in May and June 2003) you can go there to see a train. Though, these trains are "retired".

    Champs Elysées: The Elysian Fields
  • Tip Rating:
  • Champs-Elysees(Elysian Fields) in English definately was a must-see. The boulevard has some of the greatest stores in Paris and I really enjoyed it. After the long walk i recomend u sit outside at one of the many caffees. The place is a lot of fun for those who want to look and buy some European clothes and other goods.

    Champs Elysées: Champs Elysees
  • Tip Rating:
  • Created in 1667 by Andre Le Notre, Louis XIV's gardener,in order to improve the view from the Tuileries garden. The avenue was lenghtened at the end of the 18th century, running from the place de la Concorde to the Arc de Triomphe. Two kilometers long and bordered by trees, the Champs-Elysees has become the center for festivities and official parades. It is a magnet for tourists and night strollers.

This is the broad avenue running from Place de la Concorde up the Arc de Triomphe. It's some 2 kilometres long all in all. Along the avenue are restaurants ,stores and cafés etc. I, personally don't feel that this is such a must see, but if you are visiting ´Paris for the first time, of course you should see it. Either walk the whole lenth of get off the Metro at Georges V and walk up to the Arc from there. If you decide on a coffee it will be very costly here ...
If you want to shop, there are both cheap and expensive options. From Etam to Vuitton, you have lots of shops in the Champs Elysees area. There is also a Disney store, a 24 hour open supermarket Monoprix and a Séphora for example.

I thought Champs Elysee was going to be stuffy like Rodeo Drive in my hometown, but it was nothing like that. Well, it could've been 'cause there were expensive shops such as Louis Vuitton and the like, but unlike Rodeo Drive there was a mix of shops and dining for the rich and the not-so-rich. I liked the Celio shop (men's clothing) and the ginormous Virgin Megastore (note: PSP videos don't work on US hardware and DVDs don't either, unless noted. There's a tiny "import" section of DVDs that will work in US machines, but they're expensive so why bother?) As for food, I had a sandwich at Au Pain once and actually had a burger and fries at the Quick Burger another time. It's a McDonald's knockoff, but we were starving. Oddly, once you walk in the smallish storefront you'll find a huge dining area inside which was quite pleasant. The Peugot store was cool, too. You can get some Hot Wheel-style cars for 2 Euros as an inexpensive gift.

    Champs Elysées: Champs Elysee
  • Tip Rating:
  • This place is a lot of fun if you enjoy shopping. All of the stores are Mega-versions of the same store anywhere else. The car dealerships all have concepts cars too, and other things to entertain you. A couple of them have cafes. McDonalds has CD listening stands so you can listen to the latest french music while you are there. You choose from a few CD's and listen at your own pace. I listened to a great French hip-hop album while I was waiting for my husband to get the food. It was a very long line so I heard most of the CD.

  • Arguably the most famous avenue in the world, l'avenue des Champs-Elysées, certainly lives up to this title. It is part of the impressive axis from le Louvre to la Grande Arche de la Défense and is bordered by Place de la Concorde on one side, and l'Arc de Triomphe on the other. Along its sides are the Grand and Petit Palais, as well as the Elysées Palais, home of the French president. With its restaurants, cafés, cinemas and luxury boutiques, les Champs-Elysées is popular among locals and tourists alike, day or night. The avenue also takes part in most of the grand celebrations that occur in Paris, such as new year's eve and 14 juillet (Bastille Day).

Champ elysees is the most famous street in Paris.

a lot of shops , cafe's, fast food restaurant.
if you like shopping, it's a great place to shop!
a lot of choices, famous brands.

even if you don't shop, walking through the street is fun.

June/july is sale time, and the price is good bargain.

Strolling on Avenue Champs Elysees is something that you can do on your way from the Arc of Triomph. It is a beautiful street with lots of shops to stop in. We chose not to buy anything on the street as we found items cheaper elsewhere but it is always fun to look! It is a beautiful street, but very busy. We chose to sit at a cafe and watch the world go by. Very nice!

No street in Paris is more well known than the Champs-Elysees. This famed thoroughfare is bustling with shops, restaurants, cafes, cinemas and car showrooms. The tree lined avenue is 1.2 miles long and runs from the Arc de Trimophe to the Egyptian obelisk at the place de la Concorde.
