 | Paris Eiffel Tower Reviews | 21 - 30 of 998 | | From all the photos I'd seen of the Tower before my first trip to Paris it was difficult to tell how huge, immense, impressive, yet delicate & beautiful it is! I remember my 1st glimpse when coming out of Champ de Mars-Tour Eiffel stop, turned a corner & Voila! there in all her glory. Wow! I was stunned. See Marpessa's great photo for juxtaposition against the buildings - lends resonance & reference to its size. Go to the top for the sunset. Sandwiches, bagels, youart, and the like may be purchased from the Mezzanine level (souvenir shop and post office here where one may send postcards with ET cancellation stamp). There are 2 restos: Altitude 95 (named because it's 95m above sea level) located on 1st floor. Reservations via e-mail: altitude-95.rv@elior.com Jules Verne - located on the 2nd-level with great views of the city. See Callavetta's tip! Contact directly via phone for reservations at least 2 months ahead. 33 (0)1 45 55 61 44 One of Paris' top restaurants (Michelin 1 star) - popular & expensive: 35€ for lunch & 120€ dinner menu excluding wine. A la carte pricing 120-140€. Bonus: if you're under the age of 25 the Eiffel Tower now offers a reduced entrance rate to the stairs (access to the 1st & 2nd levels) of just 3€! The stairs are open from 9:30am-6pm. Warning: ET is hugely popular so lines tend to be long during the day. Get there early (about 45 minutes before it opens) to be one of the 1st to the top, which is what I did my last trip April 2003. Pilier Nord (north pillar) is the first to go up plus line goes faster. Does not accept Carte Musées et Monuments. The Eiffel Tower was built for the Paris World Fair of 1889 and, by the early 1900s was considered ugly and unwanted. About 100 years ago it was in danger of being scrapped. It was saved only the invention of radio, and its perceived value as a radio mast. Now it has become the symbol of Paris: how times change! I won’t go on further here, as there already are many excellent tips on VT giving further details of the tower. It is visible from almost anywhere in Paris, so you will have no problem finding it. The Palais de Chaillot is probably the best location for photos, though you could try something a little different (photo 2). Directions: You can't miss it!!!

I remember asking a busy commuter by the Metro in my best schoolgirl French - "Ou est la tour Eiffel??" and she pointed up.... it was so obvious we just didn't see it. Anyway... we climbed to the top for some magnifique views. Leave a Comment Directions: You can't miss it!!!

The tower is symbol of France and is one of the most known structures in the world. The Eiffel is made by engineer Gustave Eiffel 1889 and it is 324 meters high. I must admit that I didn't expected much of seeing famous tower, but I was satisfied with viewed. Climbing on the tower and view from the top are amazing. There are problem because of crowd and the line for elevator is long and you must wait for 2 hours. But to keep out the line and waiting, the best way is to go up afoot. It costs 4 EUR and you will climb to the second level. From the second level you will await for elevator and will pay additional 3,7 EUR for third level. Climbing directly from down to the third level costs 11,5 EUR. Leave a Comment Directions: You can't miss it!!!

My affair When you are outside - savour her from different angles believe me the view of Eiffiel tower from different places is so cool and beautiful in their own way ..thats why I have tonnes of photos of this legendary tower , be it from Place de la Concorde , be it from Trocadero, be it from Pont Alexandria , be it from Notre Dame or be it from Pont De Bir Hakiem ...every shot is perfect , every shot is mesmerising ! try to savour her from every angle , not just go up the tower and leave ... *When you are inside- explore every inch of her There are two ways in getting up to the tower , if you are lazy or dont feel that fit that particular day , head straight to the line on your right ( if you are coming from Trocadero ) for the lift which will take you up to the tower in a few seconds but we warned that the queue is much longer and its of course much more expensive . But if you are on a budget or you are so fit that climbing those few hundred steps means no sweat ( like me hahaha- please proceed to the queue or entrance on the left. The reward of climbing would be that you will be able to enjoy the scenery of paris at your own pace at different steps level, you will also see dummy contruction workers hanging on the steel and finally you can declare to the world that you have CLIMBED the Eifiel Tower. Trust me its a great location for black & white and Sepia pics...so savour each corners and rivets of the tower and soak there for an afternoon just watching the ever-busy mortals below performing their worldly chores...seeing each passing moment of Paris... see the next tips for more on the stuff on the tower... One of the first things we did upon arriving in Paris was to go for a walk. Deciding where to walk to was an easy decision for us, as there was really only one thing that truly symbolized Paris to us - Le Tour Eiffel. Coming from a small town in the US and working hard to be able to travel abroad was a big deal, standing in front of the Eiffel Tower was an emotional statement for all of the hard work. I could only imagine how many other people around the world had looked upon a particular monument or place and felt the same way - no matter where or what that was for them, this was it for me. Soaring into the sky, the tower was even bigger then I thought it would be. Pictures do not do it justice. It is a must see when visiting Paris. And if the opportunity presents itself, see it from the Seine. We took a boat ride in the evening and the tower was beautiful all lit up. Directions: You can't miss it!!!

In 1964, when I passed through Paris on a Eurail pass on my way from Cologne Germany to Spain, I spent the day on a bus tour of the city, and then went to the top of the Arc de Triomphe and the Eiffel Tower and the towers of Notre Dame. This picture was taken with a Kodak Retina Reflex camera using Kodak slide film. I was inspired to post this tip to an already full category for the Eiffel Tower by a Misc. Forum question about which attraction had the most tips written about it. It occurred to me that my photo was a little unusual. I do not know whether it could even be taken today. My daughter says that everyone going up is searched first. I did find out an interesting photography fact on the tower website. Q : Is the publishing of a photo of the Eiffel Tower permitted? A : There are no restrictions on publishing a picture of the Tower by day. Photos taken at night when the lights are aglow are subjected to copyright laws, and fees for the right to publish must be paid to the SNTE. Leave a Comment

We lived near it, so could walk and climb every day:) A must-see in Paris, definitely. For its history you can go to the other websites and I will not expand on that (it was mounted for an exhibition, and was thought of as a temporary construction, but we know that nothing lasts longer than temporary things). The Tower is amazing. It the symbol of elegance and grace. At night, in the beginning of every hour it is sparkling with thousands of lights. It is open daily, till 11 pm. The entry fee to the very top is about 10 EUR. It has three levels, to the first two you can either climb on foot or use an elevator, but to the very top you can get by elevator only. Do not miss it: it is the most romantic place in the city. Also, go to the Travelogue for more photos! Leave a Comment Directions: You can't miss it!!!

Whenever you think of Paris, visions of the Eiffel Tower flash in your mind. We all know the general design of the tower, but what impressed me the most was its size. Most pictures fail to give its size justice. I've attached a picture of the towers' base to give a better reflection of how large it actually is. The first time we went to Paris we were concerned about the long lines we had read about,, but it was the off-season and low and behold, we just walked right up to the ticket window bought two tickets to the top, no problem. The Eiffel Tower itself was built in 1889 and at 1,046 ft was the tallest building in the world until the Empire State Building was completed in 1931. The Eiffel Tower was built for the World's Fair, held to celebrate the French Revolution's Centennial. Shock waves of dismay were said to reverberate around Paris when the Eiffel Tower was constructed, calling it "useless" and "monstrous". Slated to meet the wrecking ball in 1909, it was spared for use as a communications tower by the French army. Tourists can go to three separate levels. An elevator goes to all three, but the first level (187 ft) and the second level (376 ft) can also be reached by steps. There is a post office on the first level so you can send mail home. The second floor has a really excellent restaurants, the Jules Verne), but it’s a bit pricey You don’t go to the top in one ride, you have to take the elevator to the second level, and then get off and stand in line again to take another elevator to the top. In the busy tourist season, the wait to take the elevator to the top level can be two hours but we just looked around a bit and took the next elevator up. Also, don’t miss seeing it at night, especially just past dusk when it's set to twinkle for a few moments, it can be stunning. It is lit up until late at night with both lights on the structure and a rotating searchlight. Each hour at night, the tower sparkles with strobe lights for about 15 minutes. Awesome!
