 | Paris Eiffel Tower Reviews | 61 - 70 of 998 | | What trip to Paris would be complete without the Eiffel Tower? To many people the Eiffel Tower is Paris. However when the tower was originally built in 1889 for the Universal exhibition, it was meant to be pulled down again after the Exhibition had finished. It remained the Worlds tallest building for over 40 years until the Empire State Building in New York took its crown. Gustave Eiffel (the architect) stated that the complicated pattern of iron girders in the tower was there to keep the tower stable in the wind, but to most people the pattern just adds beauty to the tower. At the base of the Eifel tower there are vendors that sell burnt peanuts. They are peanuts coated with a crunchy toffee glaze. They are so good. Not to be missed. They are sold in small paper bags and cooked on the spot. What a treat! Leave a Comment Directions: You can't miss it!!!

Yet another truly enjoyable experience. I had decided to mail postcards from the post office on the first level, and though I was delighted to watch the sunset from up there my timing was bad; the post office had already closed! On a lighter note, I DID get to meet Fred who was working in the gift shop that evening. He sold me the last two pre-postage international envelopes in the shop. Drinking Kir, and writing postcards at Altitude 95 after watching the sunset behind Trocadero was so much fun that I giggle at the thought of it. I read in a Toronto paper that they have built an ice skating rink there for the holidays. That may even top the rink at Rockefeller Center! Leave a Comment Directions: You can't miss it!!! I decided to walk through Parc Du Champ De Mars. Fun since you can measure the tower against buildings and lamp posts, as it looms ever larger with each step.

If you intend to go to the Eiffel Tower, avoid the lines and avoid going there on the week-ends when they get worse, go during the week at 9h00 to be among the first when they open at 9H30, or go at night after 6 pm, as it remains open until 11pm or even until midnight in the summer. If you intend to go to the third floor, be aware that you will have to swap lifts on the second so expect another queue up there. The view from the second is already fantastic. Of course, the Champs de Mars and the Trocadero are packed elbow to elbow with people snapping and flashing and focusing...but there are other areas to get a good photo of the Tour Eiffel. In fact, a little distance to the tower adds other qualities to the picture. Try these alternative locations for an Eiffel Tower photo: -Place d'Etas Unis- a small park-like square along rue Paul Valery by the Avenue d'Iena, south of the Arc de Triomphe in the 16th. A very dreamlike effect. -Anywhere along the Seine between Ile de la Cite and the Pont des Arts, from the 4th to the 1st arr. going east to west. The distance gives a very delicate, almost lace-like effect to the tower. -From the top of the Arc du Triomphe is not only a good and dramatic shot, but its proximity gives a good detail to it. -For a (very) distant shot of the tower, but in which your photo will include all of it, a good vantage point in Montmartre. From here, you will also get a nice photographic effect, especially in winter with the bare trees and the blue-gray skies. At this angle and distance, it highlights the delicacy of the tower. Leave a Comment Directions: True, you can't miss it. Use the Bir-Hakeim metro stop for the closest.

You should go there. If you come earlier in the morning there will be no big queues. But try to be on the top at 12:00. It is best time because sun is up and you can see all sides of Paris. It is worth waiting. You will reach the top after about half an hour of waiting. Leave a Comment Directions: You can't miss it!!!

If you don't afraid of high (it's about 324 meters) you will enjoy in great view from the top. When you came on third level you will be in the cage because security. From the third level Paris is on your hand. It would be great to have sunny day because then experience will be totally and Paris will look more beautiful. On the tower they are restaurants, souvenirs shops, toilets.... It's simply miracle how it stand in. Leave a Comment Directions: You can't miss it!!!

The Eifel tower created by Gustal Eifel for the World expo in 1889 is the most widely-known symbol of Paris...It is so obvious that it is maybe not worth to write about it...but still! Despite all the touristic cliches, the tower has to be seen from close... it is so giant, so impressive with its four massive feet....A great moment to stand there and to get overwhelmed by its highness! The tower is comprised of 12,000 pieces of metal weighing 7,000 metric tons, and the stairs to the top number 1,652. Leave a Comment

I'll not add the same story, pictures ... but one recommendation : - Plan to visit the eiffel tower the morning (open at 9:30 - 10:00) to minimze the "crowd" effect - Plan for a long queue but, there is one interesting alternative : => A lot of peoples don't want to step: so, no queue if you're ready to overcome the 668 steps up to the 2nd floor (lift is mandatory for the 3rd floor). Price is 4 Euros only, if you're ready to make some physical efforts. WARNING: some potential troubles for peoples having pbs with vertigo Directions: You can't miss it!!!

Even though I said that there is more to Paris than the Eiffel Tower, it is why we initially visited Paris. I was not disappointed. The Eiffel Tower looks very different throughout the city, is a very interesting subject to photograph and the only place I was actually able to photograph the whole tower was from Rive Seine. We stayed at the Tower for 2 hours. It is a must see at night when on the hour the Tower twinkles! (well, at least it looks that way....someone did a very good job with strobe lighting!) The Tower costs 10.20 Euro to go to the top of and even though I did think that was expensive, it really is a must see from the very top. We went to all the floors and I have to say (and this is coming from someone who has a fear of height) that the view from the top is nothing short of spectacular! Be sure that it is on your list of must sees! There is a contest on the Eiffel Tower website....if you have time, give it a whirl....you might be able to win free admission! Leave a Comment
