Your eyes will be treated to the most elaborated rooms of the museum literally fit for a King! You'll see lots of red and gold in the decor of the rooms.
The rooms in the Ministry of State, opened in 1861 in the Aile Richelieu, have retained their decor of gold, stuccos, marble, bronze, silk and velvet. They also feature ornate painted ceilings. Running parallel to the small rooms, the entrance gallery leads to the large hall (the "salon-théâtre"), the small dining room, and the large dining hall.

we visited the Louvre on the first Sunday of the month, which is free for all. needless to say it was packed with people. even so, visiting the Louvre is a special museum experience. the museum is so huge it's not something you can take in all in one day. i suggest devoting the most amount of time to the art or period that interests you more than others. also, i suggest picking an audio tour guide. i find them to be very helpful and full of information no mattre what museum i go to. last tip - after waiting to see la Gianconda (Mona Lisa) be sure to step out into the grand gallery and see the other DaVinci's, especially John the Baptist - it's my favorite masterpiece by Leonardo.
