 | Paris Dining and Drinking Reviews | 21 - 30 of 38 | | I don't remember the name of this area, but there's a huge number of tourists, and a lot of greek restaurants...there's also french restaurants with menus (menu is a complete set...or a 3 course meal) around 10-15 Euros. The one we chose must've been the worst food I'd had in a few years (even counting my own cooking).
As anywhere, the best rule, is look for locals...since locals won't go twice to a bad restaurant...so if you want good food, and not TV dinners, follow the locals. Leave a Comment

try not to be sucked in by the hype of those trendy, famous, see-and-be-seen-in restaurants. unless of course, the food has a good rep as well. this was the *legendary* Les Deux Magots in the 6th arr. we sat down, saw by the menu thrown at us by the *helpful* waiter that there wasn't much of note, and we just took off. of course, we politely explained to the waiter our decision, and both of us, a North American and a South American, got the same sneery glare in response. it remains a special Parisian memory in our hearts...HA!! . Parisian bars/pubs are addictive: full of nice people from all over the world, delicious beer, wine, spirits, drinks + music, music, music etc. So better not to drink too fast not to loose great party. .
Get a taxi to your hotel. Drink as much mineral water (no gas) as you can before sleeping. Sleep looooong not to have hangover next/the same day :-).
If you have hangover drink fast 1 beer :-). Try soft drinks. Leave a Comment

beware of bars and resturants within the center of Paris...they can charge up to five pounds for a small glass of coke! only drink in a bar during the day if you really need too.
instead, try and buy a drink for a local supermarket as it will be at least half the price and you don't have to waste any time sitting when you can be exploring the city!

Soft drinks and alcoholic drinks can cost a lot in Paris. On hot days , take a large bottle of mineral water in your bag / rucksack . Leave a Comment

Check the prices of bottled water, apéritifs, coffee, cognacs and liqueurs before ordering. In cafés, soft drink and bottled water often cost as much as wine or whiskey. If all you want is to quickly quench your thirst, buy soft drinks at a grocery store or supermarket. Leave a Comment

Make sure you check your bill before paying at a restaurant, some waiters try to 'add' some extra charges...You can't complain once you've paid!!! Leave a Comment

beware of the 3 tier system in cafes! When you either purchase from the bar this is the cheapest area to purchase from.. if you sit inside and receive table service you will be charged a higher price and then if you sit outside and receive service you will be charge an even higher price...but the people watching is sometimes worth it?? I had a holiday in Paris this June. After shopping at the nearby mall, we went to this restaurant Cafe de l' Opera for lunch. The service I received is horrible! They didn't allow us to share our food and worse still the attitude of the waiters was terrible. After a heat argument over the sharing of food, they chose to ignore us when we waved to them to get butter. The food at the restaurant isn't nice either. The duck they served is not fully cooked. The experience at the restaurant totally spoils my holiday mood.
