This the entrance to the RER. Located at Terminal 3, you can purchase tickets to the center of Paris & other areas. There are 2 ticket booths. Maps are also available. There are also electric ticket booths as well. Leave a Comment

From the airport to the city or back; or to go out of the city (for example Versailes), the train is a great option. Theree are 4 lines and are connected to metro lines for your convenience. You can get in the stations without a ticket, but wont be able to leave without it. Make sure you buy your ticket before entering the lower levels, and keep it handy to exit with it. If you travel with suitcases, make sure you bring only what you need; it is hard to pass the entrance/exit doors with them and there could be long walks between connections. Yet, it is a great choice to travel. Leave a Comment

If you are taking the RER train from Paris to get on a plane at the airport there are two RER stops to get off at. If you choose the wrong one you may end up having to take a cab from one to the other. You just might call ahead of time and ask them at the airport which stop you get off at and prevent a giant hassle at the last minute Leave a Comment

If you are traveling to Paris from another nearby city or country and you don't smoke, be sure to book your ticket as soon as possible. We travelled from Brussels to Paris on a Friday afternoon (which was probably also part of the problem) and discovered all the tickets on the non-smoking car were sold out. If it's really important to sit in the non-smoking section try to get your tickets a day or two ahead of time. We were on a tight schedule so weren't able to It was so bad, we ended up taking turns. One of us would watcht he baggage and the other would go to the dining car for 15 minutes, etc. It was a VERY long hour and a half! Leave a Comment

The Paris regional Railway (RER) is a highly effective transport network that internonnects, yet runs completely seperately to the Metro system. For one thing the trains run on the opposite of the tracks to the Metro. Some years back it was claimed that line A was the busiest single railway line in the world. It is certainly true that it can get quite crowded, and you can be greeted by the rather surreal site of a train arriving at a station before the previous one has completely left the platform area (see the French can organise things when they want to). The Japansese however had a thing or two to say about that claim. In a country that accounts for some 40% of all the train journeys in the world they pointed out that some lines in Tokyo handled more than twice the level of passengers in a day. All I know is, is that that Chatelet station makes you feel very much like a rat in a very large colony burrowing underground. Leave a Comment

Took the train to Versaille. The Paris metro can connect you with one of the RER trains that heads out to Versaille. Just look at a Metro map which usually shows metro, RER and bus routes all on the same map. Or just go to a metro station and ask for a ticket to Versaille. Easy. Leave a Comment
